Students’ Approaches to Learning in Agricultural Higher Education

Abstract: An Expost facto research design was adopted to understand the learning approaches of agricultural students (deep, strategic, and surface) and the data were collected randomly from 1514 students of Indian agricultural higher education institutions using the ‘Approaches and Study Skills Inventory for Students (ASSIST)’ instrument. The predominant learning approach adopted by the agricultural students was found to be ‘strategic’ (41.1%), followed by ‘deep’ (40.3 %) and ‘surface’ (15.5 %) approaches. No significan… Show more

“…According to Raju et al (2022), the leading learning style adopted by agricultural learners was found to be 'strategic' (41.1%), followed by 'deep' (40.3 %) and 'surface' (15.5 %) approaches. The student learning approaches across the disciplines (Chisquare statistic = 24.106, 0.156) were not significant, while the t-statistic value of 2.248 (p = 0.028) is significant between postgraduate and freshman learners in the case of the 'deep approach'.…”

“…So, the purpose of this study is to investigate various backgrounds of the respondents and quality parameters, whether the mind maps are effi cient in communicating the information to the seekers than comprehensive text concerning both time required as well as comprehensibility (Venkattakumar and Sontakki, 2014). The present study was undertaken to measure the eff ectiveness of the learning and training eff ectiveness (Thammi Raju et al, 2022). The present study also links the earlier fi ndings of strong association with reading and critical thinking (Commeyras, 1990), and proven hypotheses that critical thinking training of teachers yields better Cognitive Refl ection Test (CTR) performance (Janssen et al, 2019).…”

“…It provides an immense impact on the early researchers to improve their decision making skills and also prioritization of the research. Apart from that researchers must also concentrate on various quick decision making and learning tools and approaches (Soam et al, 2022;Thammi Raju et al, 2022).…”
