The purpose of this study was to assess the views of first-year university students in the northern macroregion of Peru on scientific research and to identify the ways in which these perspectives are influenced by demographic elements and specific dimensions related to research. For this purpose, a technique based on the sociodemographic study of data from 384 university students was used. Participants completed questionnaires designed to gauge their views on research in various aspects, such as writing scientific papers, being involved in research and being involved in initiatives undertaken by universities to promote research. Trends and correlations among variables were statistically significant. Positive attitudes toward research were more prevalent among women, students from private universities, and those under 30 years old. However, the research acts and parameters of universities were viewed with greater skepticism and ambivalence. It is necessary to adopt specific educational measures to foster a strong research culture, as student attitudes toward research are influenced by a mix of sociodemographic characteristics and academic experiences. Introduction. Many issues related to the activation of research work of university students remain insufficiently studied and are an urgent problem of higher professional education. Aim. The present research aimed to identify the main factors influencing the processes of activating students’ research work and to develop recommendations for increasing the activity of students’ participation in this activity. Methodology and research methods. The authors used iterative examination, analysis, comparison, synthesis, and systematisation methods to analyse the results obtained through empirical methods such as questionnaires and sociological surveys. Data collection was conducted through an online survey using the Google Forms Internet service and offline surveys at 16 universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation in 2023. A total of 351 scientific experts participated in the survey. The survey results were processed using the IBM SPSS statistical package. Results and scientific novelty. It has been established that a significant contribution to attracting students to research activities is made by the expansion of the use of information technologies in the research process and a system of incentives aimed at increasing the importance of students’ research work in the educational process. The scientific novelty lies in identifying and systematising the main factors that influence the activation of students’ research work in the learning process through the iterative examination process. Practical significance. The results of the conducted research can be used in the practical research work of university students.

The subject of the study is the attitude of students to the current state of Russian science. The object of the study is students of Russian universities. 529 students from universities in our country with a wide territorial coverage were interviewed, which allowed us to carefully study how students perceive science in our country, how they relate to this profession and whether they are ready to choose or abandon a potential career path in science. Special attention is paid to measures to support young scientists. The importance of student science is considered as a condition for the development of all Russian science and its scientific and technical sovereignty. The involvement of young people in the initial stages of higher education in the scientific environment is a priority, since students will later become scientists capable of strengthening and developing our state. The study was implemented through a survey in the form of a questionnaire. In the process of scientific research, the following methods were used: descriptive method; categorization method; analysis method, as well as a survey. The state is actively implementing various support measures for young researchers, intensifying scientific and educational activities at universities, and in the country as a whole. However, the period of lack of demand for the scientific sphere as a professional, changes in values among young people have left a significant imprint on the perception of the profession of a scientist as promising. Despite the measures taken, there is still a need to work in this direction. As one of the most significant vectors of development, it is necessary to consider the support and development of student science. This creates professional interest and will allow you to identify the most talented and enthusiastic students. The novelty and relevance of the research lies in the fact that during the implementation of the decade of science and technology in Russia and in the future, in order to involve students in research activities, it is important to know their attitude to science in order to take the necessary measures that will make the scientific environment the most desirable among young people.
