“…Scholars in IS have also been examining various platforms, along with their colleagues from economic, marketing, political science, management, and other disciplines. A major theme appears in the IS literature is empirical studies of a specific social media platform with research questions informed by attention to user behaviors and user experiences (Aduba & Mayowa‐Adebara, 2022; Chessa & Solari, 2021; Datt, Bisht, Tewari & Joshi, 2021; Slot & Opree, 2021; Wang, Chen & Xie, 2021; Wan, Peng, Wang, Zhang, Gao & Ma, 2021), information policy (Tay, 2015; Zhou, Dai, Zhang & Wen, 2021), and data management and governance (Banshal, Singh & Muhuri, 2021; Glasser, Otrando, Zhu & Harrington, 2020; Mao, Wu, Qiao & Yao, 2022). These studies often treat the platform as an empirical context or a research object to examine questions from the IS perspective, and given this focus, may not draw from or connect to the concepts or theories developed by scholars focused on platform concepts found in other literatures.…”
