Studi Kualitas Kompos Dengan Pemanfaatan Air Lindi Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir Sampah

Abstract

Waste can become a source of environmental pollution if it is not properly utilized and processed. The processing facilities at the Final Disposal Site (TPA) generate residue known as Leachate. Leachate is produced through the degradation process of waste and is known to contain nutrients, heavy metals, xenobiotics, and organic matter. Therefore, there is a need to utilize the leachate from the Bandengan TPA located in Jepara Regency for the composting of organic waste. The process of making organic waste compost with the addition of leachate as a bioactivator can effectively accelerate the composting process and reduce the C/N ratio, the percentage of sugars as bacterial nutrients, process temperature, and the size of the materials. This study aims to assess the quality of utilizing residues from waste management, including leachate and organic waste, to produce compost that is safe for environmental and agricultural purposes. Samples were taken using purposive sampling at three locations, namely: Inlet channel of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), WWTP pond, and Outlet channel at the Leachate Treatment Plant (WWTP). The method used for converting organic waste into compost is the Open Windrow Method. Evaluating the quality of the compost obtained, it was found that the optimum leachate for composting and is safe for soil, as indicated by the Germination Index (GI), originates from the WWTP outlet channel. The Leachate Treatment Plant at the Bandengan Landfill in Jepara has a series of technologies to reduce heavy metals contained in the leachate. Therefore, the leachate that is discharged into the environment and water bodies is safe for the sustenance of living organisms within them. Keywords: Leachate, WWTP, Compost, Open Windrow, Landfill ABSTRAK Sampah bisa menjadi sumber pencemaran lingkungan jika keberadaannya tidak dimanfaatkan serta diolah dengan baik. Pengolahan yang terdapat di Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir (TPA) menghasilkan residu berupa Air Lindi. Air lindi berasal dari proses degradasi sampah yang diketahui mengandung nutrien, logam berat, xenobiotik dan bahan organic. Oleh karena itu, perlunya dilakukan suatu pemanfaatan air lindi TPA Bandengan yang terletak di Kabupaten Jepara yang berguna dalam kegiatan pengomposan sampah organik. Proses pembuatan kompos sampah organik dengan penambahan air lindi sebagai bioaktivator secara efektif dapat mempercepat proses pematangan kompos dan mampu menurunkan rasio C/N, prosentase gula sebagai nutrisi bakteri, suhu proses dan ukuran bahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas dari pemanfaatan residu dari pengelolaan sampah berupa air lindi dan sampah organik menjadi kompos yang aman untuk media lingkungan dan media pertanian. Pengambilan sampel uji diambil dengan menggunakan purposive sampling pada tiga lokasi antara lain: Saluran inlet IPAL, Kolam IPAL, Saluran Outlet di Instalasi Pengamanan Lindi (IPAL). Metode yang akan digunakan dalam pemanfaatan sampah organik menjadi kompos menggunakan Metode Open Windrow. Meninjau kualitas kompos yang didapatkan bahwa air lindi yang optimum untuk pengomposan dan bersifat aman untuk tanah serta melihat Indeks Perkecambahan (IP) berasal dari saluran outlet IPAL. Instalasi Pengolah Air Limbah TPA Bandengan Jepara memiliki rangkaian teknologi untuk mereduksi logam berat yang terkandung pada air lindi tersebut. Sehingga, air lindi yang akan diteruskan ke lingkungan dan badan air aman untuk kelangsungan makhluk hidup didalamnya. Kata Kunci: Air Lindi, IPAL, Kompos, Open Windrow, TPA
