The chlorination of 1-nitronaphthalene has becn investigated in presence of a series of catalysts and under a variety of experimental conditions. The reaction products were analysed by gas-liquid chromatography and the products shown to bc l-chloro-5-nitro-, 3-chloro- 5-nitro-, 1-chloro-8-nitroand 1,4-dichlor0-5-nitro-naphthalene. J. appl.
