Studies of Densities, Viscosities and Ultrasonic Speeds of Binary Mixtures Containing Isopropyl Alcohol and Ketones at Different Temperatures

Abstract: The densities, viscosities and ultrasonic velocities of binary liquid mixtures of Isopropyl alcohol with acetophenone and methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) have been measured at temperatures 298.15 and 308.15 K over the entire range of mole fraction. From these data, acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (β), free volume (V f ) and free length (L f ) have been estimated using the standard relations. The results are interpreted in terms of molecular interactions present in the mixtures.

“…Molecules at higher temperatures have more energy, thus they can vibrate faster and ultrasonic waves can travel more quickly. The decrease in ultrasonic velocity of honey with increase in quantity of the distilled water can be explained due to the presence of strong attraction between water and honey molecules after mixing [17]. In the case of distilled water, the ultrasonic velocity increases with increase in temperature.…”

“…2-aminothiazole is used as an intermediate for dyestuff, in photographic chemicals, in medicinal chemistry and its derivatives can find application for treatment gastric ulcer and cancer etc 5 . DMF is an aprotic protophilic and polar solvent used widely in industrial processes, including manufacturing of synthetic fibers, leather, films and in surface coating [6][7][8] . DMF is of particular interest solvents because any significant structural affects are absent due to lack of hydrogen bond.…”
