“…Perhaps the differences in basal activity are due to various concentrations of GTP or endogenous catecholamines in membranes after preparation. Since GTP is essential for the coupling of the hormone/receptor/G-protein/adenylate cyclase complex (Leflcowitz, Caron and Stiles 1984;Levitzki 1986Levitzki , 1987 it seems to be the best way to determine adenylate cyclase activity stimulated by beta-adrenergic agonists + GTP on the one hand and NaF, which directly activates adenylate cyclase without involvement of the receptor (Neer 1986), on the other hand. In this way differences in endogenous GTP or catecholamine levels will have no effect on adenylate cyclase activity in a remarkable manner.…”
