Studies of Sr2+ ion substitution on ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of PZT nanocrystalline

Abstract: Strontium substituted lead zirconate titanate nanocrystalline material with chemical formula Pb0.95Sr0.05 (Zr0.52Ti0.48) O3 have been synthesized by alkoxide based sol gel method. The product was characterized by differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The ferroelectric hysteresis loop measurement was carried out at room temperature using ferroelectric loop tracer over a field range of 20 kV/cm. The remanent polarization Pr, saturati… Show more

“…However, only a small amount of energy is required to activate the donors. A little change in stoichiometry (i.e., in the metal-oxygen ratio) in multi-metal complex oxides causes the creation of large number of donors or acceptors, which creates donor or acceptor-like states in the vicinity of conduction or valence bands [11][12][13][14][15][16]17 . These donors or acceptors may also be activated with small energy [18][19][20][21] .…”

“…The Zr/Ti ratio of PZT can be categorized into morphotropic phase boundary (MPB), above MPB (65/35) and below MPB (35/65). Around 52/48 ratio is considered as the MPB of PZT and this composition of PZT shows the optimistic physical properties [11][12][13][14][15][16]. So PZT with MPB composition is meant for its use in non-volatile memories, piezoelectric actuators, sensors, micro-electro mechanical systems, pyroelectric detector, transducers and photoelectric devices [10,[17][18][19].…”
