Studies of the Formation and Stability of Ezetimibe-Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes

Abstract: In the presented studies, the interactions between ezetimibe (EZE) and selected cyclodextrins were investigated. α-Cyclodextrin (αCD), β-cyclodextrin (βCD) and its modified derivatives, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) and sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin (SBEβCD), were selected for the research. Measurements were carried out using calorimetric and spectroscopic methods. Additionally, the Hirshfeld surface and biochemical analysis were achieved. As a result of the study, the inclusion complexes with 1:1 stoi… Show more

“…The second critical factor is the thermodynamic interactions between the three components, guest, CD and solvent, to form a more favorable driving force that causes the guest to enter into the CD cavity 1,15 . No covalent bonds are formed or broken during the complex formation, and the guest molecules in the complex are in equilibrium with free molecules in the media surrounding the CD 16,17 . The main forces for the complex formation of the host with the guest are; van der Waals interaction, hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic attraction 1,4,[18][19][20] .…”
