Studies of the Three-Nucleon System Dynamics in the Deuteron-Proton Breakup Reaction

Abstract: Abstract. One of the most important goals of modern nuclear physics is to contruct nuclear force model which properly describes the experimental data. To develop and test predictions of current models the breakup 1 H( d, pp)n reaction was investigated experimentally at 100 and 130 MeV deuteron beam energies. Rich set of data for cross section, vector and tensor analyzing powers was obtained with the use of the SALAD and BINA detectors at KVI and Germanium Wall setup at FZ-Jülich. Results are compared with vari… Show more

“…This implies that 1/m N -corrections to the nuclear forces and currents are shifted to higher orders compared to the corresponding static contributions. 2 In particular, the leading relativistic corrections appear at the same order with the leading one-loop diagrams.…”

“…The new generation measurement of the 1 H(d, pp)n breakup reaction, designed to study a wide phasespace region, was performed at the beam energy of 130 MeV and provided very interesting results. The comparison with the theoretical predictions revealed the significance of the 3NF in the cross-section data [27][28][29][30][31]. Moreover, for the configurations characterised by small polar angles and at large relative azimuthal angles ϕ 12 of the emitted protons the theoretical predictions strongly underestimate the data, whereas at the small ϕ 12 angles, the data are overestimated.…”

“…Our new-generation experiments fulfilled these conditions and provided a very rich set of differential cross-section, vector A x , A y and tensor A x x , A xy , A yy analyzing power data for the breakup reaction. The cross-section data were obtained for about 80 [15][16][17] and 145 [18][19][20] geometries, defined by the polar angles of the two outgoing protons, θ 1 , θ 2 , and their relative azimuthal angle ϕ 12 for an energy of 65 MeV/nucleon. The vector and tensor analyzing power data were measured in 90 geometries for each of the tensor and vector analyzing powers [14] with the SALAD detector.…”

“…The Coulomb force effects were studied in more details in a dedicated experiment at FZJ [18][19][20], focusing on a very narrow part of the phase space. This study was extremely important due to the fact that the electromagnetic interaction reveals itself quite strongly in this region.…”
