The extensive literature on the relative growth of brachyuran crabs presents the theorical basis on allometry (HARTNOLL, 1982;HUXLEY & RICHARDS, 1931;TEISSIER, 1933TEISSIER, , 1960WEYMOUTH & MACKAY, 1936), beyond some aspects related to the determination of size at onset of sexual maturity (WEYMOUTH & MACKAY, 1934;GORE & SCOTTO, 1983).
