The organism is widely distributed and has been isolated from man and other animals, including hares, chinchillas, pigs, dogs, cattle and the bush-baby (Dickinson & Mocquot, 1961; Becht, 1962; Daniels, 1963;Mollaret & Lucas, 1965;Nilehn, 1967; Goyon, 1969; Mair, Schubert & Harbourne, 1970).
