Study FTIR and AC Conductivity of Nanocomposite Electrolytes

Abstract: In the present work polymer electrolytes were formulated using the solvent casting technique. Under special conditions, the electrolyte content was of fixed ratio of polyvinylpyrolidone (PVP): polyacrylonitrile (PAN) (25:75), ethylene carbonate (EC) and propylene carbonate (PC) (1:1) with 10% of potassium iodide (KI) and iodine I2 = 10% by weight of KI. The conductivity was increased with the addition of ZnO nanoparticles. It is also increased with the temperature increase within the range (293 to 343 K). The … Show more

“…The C-H stretching bond shifted from 2977.89 cm -1 to a lower wavenumber of 2972.10 cm -1 , indicating that hydrogen bonding interactions have developed. The CH 2 peak for the (PVA-PVP) has not disappeared entirely for (A3, A4, and A5) samples, indicating that some of the vinyl groups have been left unreacted during the polymerization process [13][14][15][16][17].…”

“…The activation energy (E a ) of an ion is the required energy to detach from its original location and become a free ion. The influence of temperature on conductivity was examined to calculate E a for all electrolytes [15]. According to Fig.…”

“…Metal ions from salts interact with each other and polar groups (-OH) of polymers by electrostatic interactions, resulting in the formation of coordinating bonds [17,23]. The type of functional groups attached to the polymer backbone, their compositions and distances between them, molecular weight, branching degree, metal cation nature and charge, and counter ions are all important factors that might affect polymermetal ion interactions [20,24].…”
