Study of antioxidant property of a thiosphorated compound derived from cashew nut shell liquid in hydrogenated naphthenics oils

Abstract: The present work shows the aspects related to the synthesis and thermogravimetric analysis of thiophosphorated and phosphorated compounds from hydrogenated cardanol. Studies on thermal-oxidative stability were investigated, using a classical thermoanalytical-thermogravimetric method (TG/DTG) in an air atmosphere. Its use as an antioxidant additive in hydrogenated naphthenic NH10, NH20 and NH140 oils was evaluated. The addition of 1.2% synthesized compounds to the oils has improved their thermal-oxidative stabi… Show more

“…The DSC curve related to the bM polyol (Figure 5a) in the first scan shows an inflection point due to a transition phase corresponding to the glass transition temperature (T g ) [31,32] around 75 • C. No other phenomena were recorded. In the second scan, along with the T g at 75 • C, an endothermic peak with a maximum at 250 • C was present, which could be correlated to the evaporation of aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon molecules with low molecular weight present within the bM polyol, as also hypothesized by Lopes et al [31,32]. In the case of the bS DSC thermogram (Figure 5b), a semi-crystalline behavior was observed due to the presence of either a first-or second-order thermodynamic transitions.…”

“…In the last few years, our group has dedicated special attention to the antioxidant properties exhibited by cardanol and its phosphorylated derivatives in different materials (Lomonaco et al, 2011;De Souza Rios et al, 2009;Lopes et al, 2008;Rios Façanha et al, 2007). The results obtained were very satisfying, keeping us focused on improving the performance and expanding the areas of utilization of these fascinating compounds.…”
