Samples of calcium borate glasses containing iron ions have been prepared with three different concentrations of both boron and iron oxides. X-ray diffraction spectroscopy was performed and results revealed that samples are in good glassy state, with high homogeneity and short range ordered structure. Electrical conductivity was experimentally measured in the temperature range from 300 to 553 K. Conductivity results have been studied as a function of the static dielectric constant (ε) and the charge carrier's relaxation time (τ). The results were modeled by means of an empirical formula that fits the experimental data as a function of both the static dielectric constant and the electric activation energy ∆Ε; in addition to the exponent factor s. Total measured conductivity modeled using the proposed empirical formula fits neatly the correlated barrier hopping model.

A novel investigation on structural and DC conductivity of Eu2O3 activated heavy metal oxide boro-tellurite (BBTE) glasses were analyzed. The boro-bismuth-tellurite glass samples doped with europium trioxide were fabricated by the conventional melt quenching method. The microstructural and structural studies of the glasses have been done by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. The DC conductivity of the BBTE samples has been studied at the frequency range 40Hz-6MHz and in the temperature range 303-453K. The XRD and SEM, confirm the non-crystalline and homogeneous properties of prepared glasses. The DC conductivity of glasses obeys Arrhenius behavior and DC conductivity decreases with increasing Eu2O3 concentration. A very less amount of DC conductivity was noticed in glasses with various temperatures and it is due to less availability of oxide ions.

In this study, we investigated the dielectric properties of Pb3O4-Bi2O3-B2O3 (PBB) glass ceramics doped with varying CuO concentrations across wide frequency and temperature ranges. The structural analysis involved XRD, SEM, XPS, DTA, FT-IR, ESR, and OA spectra, revealed the presence of anisotropic CuBi2O4 ferroelectric crystal phases with the size of a few microns in these glass ceramics. The glass-ceramics containing a higher content of CuO indicated a maximal reduction of Cu2+ to Cu+ ions that inhabit network-forming sites. Dielectric properties, including ε′, M,′ M″, Z, and σ ac , were studied as functions of CuO content. ε′ and σ ac were observed to decrease, while impedance was found to increase with CuO up to 0.8 mol%. Observed dipolar effects were quantitatively discussed with the identification of probable dipoles. The study indicated decreased ionic and increased polaronic contributions to σ ac with a rise of CuO from 0.2 to 0.8 mol%. In conclusion, glass ceramics with low CuO content are suitable as solid electrolytes, while higher CuO content serves as electrode materials in solid-state batteries.
