Watching English videos can be considered as a powerful and popular tool with regard to learning English as a foreign language, and ought to be devoted serious attention by teachers and researchers. The present study attempts to explore the potential effects of watching authentic English videos (movies, TV shows, etc.) with subtitles (English and Slovak) and without subtitles on listening and reading skills. A total of thirty Slovak university EFL learners were divided into three groups according to their viewing preference: English subtitle group (ESG), Slovak subtitle group (SSG), and no subtitle group (NSG). Afterwards, the participants in each group underwent listening and reading tests, and their scores were subsequently examined. The test results were analyzed and compared using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical method and the Bonferroni post-hoc test. Overall, neither listening nor reading test scores exhibit statistically significant differences between the three groups, although the post-hoc test, which was used for comparing the groups with each other, revealed that a significant difference was detected between the ESG and SSG within the analysis of reading test scores.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic changed the course of delivering quality education to learners. This study analyzed the level of digital competence of school administrators, the readiness of schools, and perceived challenges on the delivery of distance learning. Using a descriptive research design, the researchers used an online survey to gather pertinent data for the study. Thirty-six (36) administrators took part in the online survey using universal sampling from a school division in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. The researchers created an online research instrument and subjected it to validation before the actual administration. After data gathering, the researchers encoded and tabulated the data. This study used the following statistical tools to analyze the data: frequency, percentage, and rank. The study found that the administrators have varied results on the aspect of digital competence based on the statistical analysis. In terms of school readiness on distance learning, the schools were not yet ready to implement a distance learning scheme. For the perceived challenges, internet connection/ connectivity is the primary concern. Other challenges involve preparation, competencies, funding, and devices for distance learning. Based on the result of the study, the researchers provided some essential recommendations for the administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders.

The prime purpose of the study is to highlight the relationship between perceived schools readiness for distance learning and the perceived effectiveness of schools implementation of distance learning modalities of parents in Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School, Borongan City Division, province of Eastern Samar, among parents whose children are recipients of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and officially enrolled during the school year 2021-2022. As a result, the researcher decided to investigate how well-prepared and successful the schools were at integrating distance learning modes from the perspective of the parents of students enrolled in ESNCHS. The researcher investigated the correlational relationship between readiness and perceived effectiveness of the three primary distance learning modalities in terms of curriculum support, instructional support, and overall learning program among Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) recipient parents of Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School for the School Year 2020-2021. The results appear to make sense due to the ready and very effective perceptions of the respondents based on the previously presented results. The finding implies the need to continuously implement good practices in monitoring learners learning activities even if they are not in school; that the teacher-parent relationship be strengthened through focus group activities to identify their strengths and weaknesses in assisting their children; and to regularly review the preparation, distribution, and retrieval of learning modules mechanism to cater the learning needs of the students better.
