Study of Fabricated Solar Dryer of Tomato Slices under Jordan Climate Condition

Abstract: The objective of the current study was to investigate experimentally, the performance of a fabricated solar dryer under Jordan climate condition during the summer of 2013. The temporal variations of temperature difference between absorber plate and ambient temperature were obtained in the results and its influence on the performance of solar flat plate collector was examined. The effects of absorber plate temperature, ambient temperature and wind heat transfer coefficient on the top heat loss coefficient were … Show more

“…Energy is necessary for different human activities such as heating (Arab et al 2012), transportation and some other purposes like desalination systems (Jahangiri et al 2014;Olimat 2017;Tarwidi et al 2016). Over the past century, fossil fuels have provided most of human energy demand; however, due to growing environmental concerns and predicted lack of fossil fuels in the near future, there are many attempts to find appropriate alternative resources for energy which is environmentally benign and renewable (Toghi et al 2015, Dellosa 2016.…”

“…The dehydration process has two stages where the first stage is the moisture content shifted up to product surfaces and evaporated by convection of heated air-stream. The moisture content (%) were removed from the product center and surfaces then evaporated to the environment or chamber where later will be exhausted by a static pressure fan through the chimney (Olimat, 2017). The vaporization of moisture content of the products during the drying process needs a supply of latent heat and adequate airflow to increase vapor pressure over the products to remove the vaporized water away from the drying chamber.…”
