“…By studying the same object -skin patterns, criminologists relied on one of the basic characteristics of papillary skin, on its individuality, and clinicians and anthropogenetics -on the other, namely on its high level of inheritance, since the tasks solved by one and the other were different. Criminologists are dedicated to finding individual features of skin patterns for the purpose of identifying a person [6,8], and physicians and anthropologists -to search for typological features that unite people into a group to reveal associations with diseases, ethno-racial diagnostics and a number of others [12,16].…”

“…The frequency data in this study clearly show that some minutiae types can substantially contribute to the strength of the match in the identification process. Several similar studies dealing with the evaluation of minutiae types on the fingerprints have been published, for example, Gutiérrez‐Redomero et al 2011 , Gutiérrez‐Redomero et al 2012 , or Rivaldería et al 2017 (). When comparing the results of our study with those by Gutiérrez‐Redomero et al 2011, we have to mention that the order of the minutiae types from our study mostly matches the order from the study of Spanish population.…”

“…The number of prints available through these databases is far from being compared with the quantity of fingerprints in fingerprint databases ( NBIS, NFIS etc.). The authors believe that this examination could lead to enlargement of the palm print database, what could result in better use of the palm prints for personal identification .…”
