Study of Hybridized Kenaf/Palf-Reinforced Hdpe Composites by Dynamic Mechanical Analysis

Abstract: This article presents an experimental study on the dynamic mechanical property of hybridized Kenaf/PALF-reinforced HDPE composites. Variation in storage modulus (E′), loss modulus (E″) and damping parameter (tan δ) with fiber loading and variation in fiber length were investigated. The concept of hybridization was also discussed as it affects the dynamic properties. Initial storage modulus (E′) of all hybrids at different fibre ratios have been enormously improved compared to pure HDPE, and dependence of modul… Show more

“…Aji et al experimental study on the dynamic mechanical property of hybridized Kenaf=PALF-reinforced HDPE composites [9] .Theymentioned that the incorporation of the kenaf fiber helped reduce the loss modulus in the dynamic mechanical properties. These studies directly prove that kenaf has a lot of potential to modify any polymer properties in order to get require properties.…”

“…Actually, kenaf-reinforced composites have used a diversified number of polymer matrices including PP [ 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 ], polyester [ 30 , 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 ], polyurethane [ 37 , 38 ], high-density polyethylene [ 22 , 39 , 40 , 41 ], polystyrene [ 42 ], polylactic acid [ 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 , 50 , 51 ], natural rubber [ 52 ], PVC [ 53 ], and epoxy [ 54 ] among others.…”

“…However, very little work has been reported on dynamic behavior of PALF hybridized with other natural or synthetic fibers. The experimental study on dynamic mechanical properties of HDPE polymeric hybrid composite reinforced with kenaf and PALF for different fiber loading and fiber length was conducted by Aji et al [16] and demonstrated that increase of fiber content raised the peak of damping with respect to temperature and storage modulus was improved with increase in fiber length.…”
