“…The Nd-doped single van adate crystals are the commonly used Q switched laser gain media for the diode pumped Q switched lasers due to their broad absorption bandwidths, large absorp tion and emission cross sections as well as high chemical stability such as Nd:GdVO 4 [4], Nd:YVO 4 [5], and Nd:LuVO 4 [6][7][8]. In order to improve the performance of lasers, the double-mixed Nd:Gd x Y 1 -x VO 4 , Nd:Lu x Gd 1 -x VO 4 , and Nd:Lu x Y 1 -x VO 4 crystals have been grown and extensively studied as gain media for the Q switched lasers [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]. The experimental results show that shorter pulse width and higher peak power in the Q switched lasers with the double mixed crystals can be obtained than those with single vanadate crystal lasers because of the inhomoge neous broadening of the fluorescence line widths.…”
