Study of Main Propulsion Plant’s Mission Reliability in View of Performance Degradation

Abstract: The reliability of watercraft depends to a large extent on the reliability of main propulsion plant. It should be distinguished on the base of mission variation charged by watercraft during study of main propulsion plant’s reliability. The mission reliability under rated and economical speed is studied via one main propulsion plant as subject in this paper, while the influence performance degradation of main propulsion plant on its mission reliability mostly studied. Relative curve between mission reliability … Show more

“…To assess the mission reliability for a watercraft, Shi et al focused on its key component—main propulsion plant. It claimed that performance parameter of the main propulsion plant directly determined the watercraft speed, and watercraft reliability was determined to a great extent by the performance of its main propulsion plant.…”

“…It claimed that performance parameter of the main propulsion plant directly determined the watercraft speed, and watercraft reliability was determined to a great extent by the performance of its main propulsion plant. Shi et al considered speed as a parameter connecting the reliability and the performance degradation. Considering aircraft, its performance and reliability is usually validated via multiple flight testing conducted by the institution that is responsible for predefining and implementing the tests.…”
