Due to creeping process at the burning material, material’s elastic modulus and yield strength will decrease.Three fire protection system are exist in handling the fire problem: active fire protection, passive fire protection, and safety management. In correlation with material problem due to fire, passive fire protection is a strategy to counter it. This paper presents the results of fire protection by using Suralaya fly ash geopolymer concrete. Three molaritas of geopolymer concrete mixture design are 2M, 4M, and 6 M. Sodium Silicate (Na2SiO3) and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) are used as alkaline activator. The results of the experiment were analysed by compressive strength for the optimum values. This study found that the value of compressive strength of steam curing is higher than that of water curing, the value of geopolymer concrete compressive strength of 2M is higher than that of 4M, and the value of geopolymer concrete compressive strength of 6M is higher than that of 4M.

The effect of hot steam curing on the compressive strength and flexural strength of geopolymer concrete

This research was conducted to determine the effect of hot steam curing on the compressive and flexural strength of geopolymer concrete with variations of NaOH molarity. The specimens used in this study are cylinders with a size of 150 mm ï‚´ 300 mm for the compressive strength test and beams with dimensions 150 mm 150 mm ï‚´ 600 mm for the flexural compressive strength test. The specimens were cured at 80â„ƒ, 90â„ƒ, and 100â„ƒ for 2 and 3 hours. Curing at room temperature was carried out after the hot steam curing process finished. The compressive and flexural strength tests were carried out when the specimens reached 28 days old. The result of the study showed that the 14 M mixture had greater compressive strength and flexural strength than 10 M. By increasing the temperature every 10â„ƒ and the duration of the hot steam curing for 1 hour, the compressive strength increased by an average of 5.97% and 3.07% and the flexural tensile strength by an average of 19.73% and 7.34%, respectively. Besides that, it can be proposed a multiple regression equation for compressive strength, namely fâ€™c = 21,728 + 0,147x1 + 1,040x2 + 0,162x3 and multiple regression equation for tensile strength are fr = -2,270 + 0,061x1 + 0,318x2 + 0,029x3. Where fâ€™c is compressive strength, and fr is flexural tensile strength, while x1, x2, and x3 are temperature, curing time, and molarity of NaOH.

The production of the cement concrete industry has grown in this modern world and is considered one of the major contributors to global pollution. The production of cement used as a binder in cement concrete requires a high-temperature combustion process which contributes to the increase of the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere leading to major threats to the planet such as climate change and depletion of natural resources. Many countries begin to impose carbon taxes as raw materials deplete over time. To reduce and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions, numerous studies have been conducted to develop an innovative and environmentally beneficial building material names Geo-polymer concrete (GC). It is vital to substitute cement with a by-product substance abundant in silicon and aluminium like red mud, fly ash (FA), rice husk ash (RHA), silica fume (SF), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), etc. activated by a high alkaline solution (AS) to connect coarse aggregates (CA), fine aggregates (FA), and other substance in GC for the purpose of making a progress in qualities of concrete and reduce natural resource uses. The current study focused on the impact of various factors such as the effect of superplasticizer, Na-OH molarity (8, 10, 12, 14 and 16M), and curing temperature (30-900C) on different mechanical characteristics such as workability, tensile and compressive strength of GC. Results obtained show that the higher strength is obtained with a molarity of 14M after both 7 and 28 days as with 16M excess Na+ ions lower the strength and affect the process of polymerisation. The curing temperature at 900C for all mixtures gives higher strength as compared to 600C which in return gives higher strength than 300C at 28 days of testing. The results also show that the addition of superplasticizer (1, 1.5, 2 and 3 % of mass of fly ash) improves the workability of geopolymer fresh concrete. In current research work, Naphthalene superplasticizer was used and its addition beyond 1.5% of the mass of fly ash improved workability but slightly decreased the strength of concrete. Its optimum value was found as 68.05KN/m2 at 900C curing temperature when 14M NaOH and 1.5% superplasticizer were added.
