Study of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in the Ti–TiO2–Al–Air system and preparation of ceramic materials based on titanium nitride and corundum

Abstract: Mechanisms for titanium nitride formation during burning in air of a mixture of coarse titanium powder and its dioxide with addition of aluminum powder, and formation of the phase composition of ceramic materials prepared by sintering combustion products in a hydrogen atmosphere, are considered. Material of the composition titanium nitride -corundum is prepared.
