Abstract:In order to improve fuel/air mixture homogeneity and enhance air motion in the combustion chamber, a new spray impingement and squish combustion system (SISCS) is developed. The mixture formation and combustion processes in three different combustion chambers are simulated using the AVL-FIRE code. Simulation results show that the passage width has great influence on combustion and emissions. Compared with the original engine the NO and soot emissions can be reduced by using the combustion chamber of the case B. Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
