Study of the asymmetric magnetic field confining the plasma in an experimental ECR set-up

Abstract: The detailed description of the asymmetric magnetostatic field, used to confine a plasma in a typical electron cyclotron resonance set-up, and of the related resonance surface, associated with an electromagnetic wave feeding the source, has been obtained by means of exact expressions, employing complete elliptic integrals. This field representation is necessary in the studies regarding particles magnetically confined in these apparatuses.
