Abstract:The article aims to study the distribution of residual stresses across the surface layer depth following the machining of test specimens (free orthogonal cutting and burnishing). The machining by cutting and burnishing of 45 steel specimens was carried out using a milling machine with numerical control under varying machining factors. For a comparative analysis, the processes were also modeled via the finite element method using identical experimental values of geometric parameters and machining modes. In orde… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
