Study of the reaction npπ → npπ+π− at 1.0 and 1.5 GeV

Abstract: The contribution of "hanged" diagrams into the reaction np → npπ + π − was considered. It was shown that taking into account of these diagrams permits to get better description of the effective mass spectrum of π + π − -combinations.

“…Early measurements of two-pion production initiated by nucleon-nucleon (NN) collisions were conducted with bubble chambers, where due to low statistics primarily only results for total cross sections were obtained [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. In recent years the two-pion production has been measured from threshold up to incident energies of T p = 1.4 GeV with high accuracy by exclusive and kinematically complete experiments conducted at CELSIUS [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16], COSY [17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24], GSI [25], and JINR [26]. Whereas initially proton-proton (pp)-induced twopion production was the primary aim of these measurements [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][17][18][19], the interest moved later to proton-neutron (pn)induced reaction channels, after the first clear-cut evidence for a dibaryon resonance with I (J P ) = 0(3 + ) had been observed in the pn → dπ 0 π 0 reaction [16,20,21].…”

“…The separation of the primary deuteron and secondary beams at focus point F6 is provided by the modernized analyzing magnet SP-41 [35]. The physics at F6 is related with the baryonic resonances spin properties studies at the energies between 2 and 6 GeV of the deuteron kinetic energy and includes the measurements of the tensor A yy and vector A y analyzing powers in quasi-elastic and inelastic A(d, pp)X reaction; of the tensor A yy and vector A y analyzing powers in the inelastic deuteron scattering A(d, d )X [47] and A(d, d )π ± X reactions; investigation of the vector analyzing power in neutron induced reactions (with the proton spectator detection) like np → pn, np → ppπ − , np → npπ + π − [49,50] etc. For these experiments the full size RPC wall is required.…”
