Abstract: Background: Pterygium is a hyperplastic elastoid wing shaped degenerative condition of the subconjunctival tissue which proliferates as vascularized granulation tissue infiltrating the cornea destroying the superficial layers of stroma and Bowman's membrane causing corneal distortion and significant amount of astigmatism.
