Study of XRD, FT-IR and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Doped and Undoped Barium Iodate Crystals Grown in Silica Gel

Abstract: Abstract-Single crystals of barium iodate were grown by simple gel technique by single diffusion method. By varying various parameters, optimum conditions for the growth were established. Crystals having different morphologies and habits were obtained. Prismatic, prismatic pyramidal, dendritic crystals were obtained. Some of them were transparent, some were transluscent, and few others were opaque. The crystals were doped by impurities such as Fe 3+ and Cu 2+ . The formation of the compound was verified by X-r… Show more

“…Shitole demonstrated a progressive decomposition of Cd(IO 3 ) 2 by I 2 and O 2 release with Cd 5 (IO 4 ) 2 as the final compound. 25 In our case, CdO is clearly identified by X-ray diffraction consistent with the mass loss (inset in Fig. 2).…”

“…500-690) cm À1 range. This results contrasts with the frequency range where the n 1 and n 3 vibrations of a free iodate ion are observed 25,50,51 and shows the limitation of the free polyhedron model. The identification with our experimental spectrum shows that only 8 experimental bands (over the 18 expected) can be observed considering the resolution of our experimental spectrum (Fig.…”
