“…χ/ψ ∼ 4.5, and for appropriate ψ ′ production [39]. A general ballpark for the measured χ to J/ψ production ratio in pp is a factor of 4 − 5 [34,39] and our final results are rather insensitive to a choice in this range, since a decrease could easily be compensated by a small transition matrix element between J/ψ and χ.…”

“…What can differentiate our calculation from the earlier models is the possibility of transitions between charmonium states dynamically in a nuclear environment. Certainly, the χ 1 , χ 2 and χ 3 states are produced considerably more copiously in basic pp collisions, with perhaps as high a ratio as χ/ψ = 4 − 5 [34], and they decay appreciably into J/ψ, with branching ratios in the range Γ b /Γ ∼ 12 − 25% [35]. The ψ ′ also feed some 57% into J/ψ.…”

“…Statistical and systematic errors were quadratically summed. Figure 26 compares the feed-down fraction obtained from our χ c → J/ψ + γ measurement with other experiments over a broad range of collision energy and x F , as well as over many different colliding species [73,[77][78][79][80][81][82][83][84]. The value measured in this work, F J/ψ χc = 32 ± 9%, is consistent with the world average of 25 ± 5 % after accounting for A dependencies in the fixed target experiments [76] 4 .…”

“…where A and B represents the colliding particles, in this case π − and p, and Br is the branching fraction of the particles to decay into a J/Ψ meson. The measured ratios are collected from [50][51][52][53][54][55] and the comparison with the model calculations at different collision energies are shown in Tables 1 and 2, where a really good match with the data is achieved. This allows us to calculate the full energy dependence of the direct production of these states and put it into our transport simulations.…”
