Study on Fabrication of Ni8W/Ni12W/Ni8W Composite Substrate for Coated Conductors

Abstract: Three types of Ni8W/Ni12W/Ni8W composite substrates with different layer thickness ratios are thoroughly investigated. A composite substrate with a 1:2:1 thickness ratio is found to be more appropriate for application because of its sharper cube texture, better mechanical strength, and lower magnetization. To overcome cracking and fracture during cold rolling, hot rolling is sometimes conducted before cold rolling.
