Study on frequency and time domain properties of novel triple band notched UWB antenna in indoor propagation channel

Abstract: Frequency and time domain characteristics of a novel and compact triple band notched ultra wideband (UWB) monopole antenna are investigated. To realize UWB characteristics, the lower edges of a simple rectangular radiating patch are truncated and a new structure including a semi‐circle like ring stub is added to the rear side of the antenna. To avoid interferences with coexisting narrow band systems such as WiMAX, WLAN, and X band, two inverse L‐shaped slots, a semi‐circle like ring slot and two C‐shaped reson… Show more

“…The results of radiation efficiency demonstrate that the proposed antenna has an acceptable bandnotched characteristic. Table 5 presents the comparison of performance between the proposed antenna and other works reported recently in the literature by the References 4,5,10,11,15,22,[29][30][31][32]. The comparison is based on the size, the bandwidth, and the number of bands rejected by the antennas.…”

“…The −π/2 term comes from the reciprocity theorem as the transmitting and receiving antenna are identical,. 24 In order to investigate the time domain characteristics of EDS-VA, the normalized received pulses are calculated from IFFT of Equation ( 4). The maximum pulse spreading phenomena is observed in the case of EDS-VA when there is no V cut and W ext = 82 mm.…”

“…In [21], a cpw fed UWB antenna integrated with stub loaded meander line resonator is proposed to achieve the triple notch bands. In [22] by applying stubs and slots in the radiating patch and parasitic stubs in the ground palne, three notch bands are obtained. Another approach is the insertion of resonator structures (such as split ring resonators) to create notch bands [23]- [25].…”
