Study on multi field coupling numerical simulation of nitrogen injection in goaf and fire-fighting technology

Abstract: In order to effectively prevent the spontaneous combustion of residual coal in goaf, taking the 10,101 fully mechanized top coal caving face of Baozigou coal mine as research object, the multi-field coupling numerical model of nitrogen injection in goaf is established. The FLUENT software is used to study the variation law of spontaneous combustion zone in goaf under dynamic mining of working face with different nitrogen injection parameters, determining the range of spontaneous combustion zone in stable stage… Show more

“…Therefore, C 2 H 4 (139.9˚C) is regarded as the symbolic gas for coal spontaneous combustion to achieve severe oxidation and temperature rise. According to field experience, most scholars regard 10% oxygen concentration as the unified index for dividing the asphyxiation zone in a goaf [22][23][24][25][26]. Fig 8 shows that the closed oxygen consumption test results of coals in the different mines were different, indicating that the oxygen consumption capacity of different coals differs under the same conditions.…”

“…Spontaneous combustion in gas extraction borehole is a internal-caused fire in coal mines influenced by multiple factors, which seriously restricts the high production efficiency and safety of mines 1 , 2 . The initial temperature of the coal seam rises due to the increase of mining depth and intensity, bringing new challenges to the prevention and control of coal spontaneous combustion disasters 3 , 4 . Therefore, the risk of spontaneous combustion in extraction borehole is becoming increasingly serious, especially for high gas-prone spontaneous combustion coal seams.…”

“…Geng et al proposed a full section nitrogen curtain dust suction method for goaf in U-shaped ventilation working faces, which has been successfully applied in underground goaf fire prevention scenarios. Wang et al , established a multifield-coupled numerical model for nitrogen injection in goaf and obtained a fitting curve between nitrogen injection parameters and the width of the goaf spontaneous combustion zone. They used a fire prevention technology combining spray loss wind and nitrogen injection for engineering applications, effectively controlling the spontaneous combustion of residual coal in goaf.…”
