Study on Residual Stress of Welded Hoop Structure

Abstract: Residual stress is inevitable during welding, which will greatly affect the reliability of the structure. The purpose of this paper was to study the residual stress of the hoop structure caused by the cooling shrinkage of the weld when the outer cylinder was wrapped and welded under the condition of the existing inner cylinder. In this paper, the “method of killing activating elements” of ANSYS was used to simulate the three-dimensional finite element of the hoop structure. In the case of applying interlayer f… Show more

“…Các vết nứt đường hàn làm tăng tốc phá hoại mỏi của kết cấu [3,4]. Vì vậy việc nghiên cứu sự phân bố và độ lớn của các ứng suất dư quanh mối hàn, để từ đó đánh giá được chính xác tình trạng kết cấu do hàn gây ra là vấn đề quan trọng và cần được quan tâm cấp thiết [5,6].…”

“…In this case, for both formulations of inverse problems, the form of the function s 0 rr (ξ) is known, and it is necessary to find only the parameter of the initial load, which determines the level of PS. For this, the developed scheme can also be applied, while in expansion (16), it is necessary to use only one basis function of the form (18) or (19), respectively. Then, we can determine the desired parameter p 0 from the solution of Equation ( 17) for one selected probe frequency.…”

“…Artificial intelligence (AI) and fuzzy techniques, showing a good match with experiments, were used to build a three-dimensional eigenstrain-creep model. In the article [18], the PS field in the weld of an annular structure simulated by a cylindrical hoop is studied. The blind hole method was used to test the residual stress distribution of the hoop structure, and the test results were compared with the finite element simulation results to verify the reliability of the simulation calculation method and the reliability of the calculation results.…”

“…Technological developments in the oil and gas industry have been very advanced, including in terms of fabrication, one of the applications being made is the joining of materials to support the facilities of the oil and gas industry. In the welding process, heat energy continues which causes differences in temperature distribution in the metal, resulting in uneven expansion and shrinkage [1]. The existence of local heating due to welding and rapid cooling or high-temperature changes causes the stored energy in the weld area to be high, resulting in residual stress and distortion.…”
