Study on the characteristics of karst development in Beijing

Abstract: The distribution area of carbonate rocks in Beijing is about 5071.44 km 2 , accounting for 30.19% of the land area in Beijing. The distribution areas of bare, covered and buried carbonate rocks are 2862.21 km 2 , 401.86 km 2 , 1803.37 km 2 , respectively. The carbonate rocks mainly includes dolomite in Changcheng Group of Jixian System (Jxg), dolomite in Wumishan Group of Jixian System (Jxw), dolomite in Tieling Group of Jixian System (Jxt), Cambrian limestone (Є), Ordovician limestone (O) and carbonate rocks … Show more

“…9C). While most China's karst landforms are distributed in the southern subtropical regions, there are also a few karst caves located in temperate regions (Liu et al 2020). Due to Pleistocene glaciation, caves served as refugia for troglobites, like S. huanglaoensis sp.…”

“…The geological map of Shangfang Mountain and the location of Yunshui Cave are shown in Figure 3 [11]. The area of Shangfang Mountain is a typical area of karst landform in northern China [9]. In this geological environment, the independent underground space of the underground pipe formed by karst rock (possibly partial erosion) with a certain diameter or a long continuous runoff space is called a karst cave [10], such as Yunshui Cave.…”
