Study on the Compression Effect of Clothing on the Physiological Response of the Athlete

Abstract: The study aimed to analyze whether the high compression of unique, tight-fitting sportswear influences the clothing physiology comfort of the athlete. Three specific sportswear with different compression were tested on four subjects while they were running on a treadmill with increasing intensity. The compression effect of the sportswear on the body of the test persons, the temperature distribution of the subjects, and the intensity of their perspiration during running were determined. The results indicate tha… Show more

“…3,13 Moreover, sweat may be handled by garment fabrics with properties such as moisture absorbency, air permeability, and water vapor permeability. Past studies 3,[14][15][16] indicated that overall perceived comfort improved during exercise when wearing sportswear with enhanced moisture management, increased air and water vapor permeability, higher thermal conductivity and increased moisture absorbency.…”

“…16 Sportswear is a stretchy tight-fitting garment that provides athletes with the right pattern, elastic strain, and spatial comfort for physical activities. 17 And also, human body characteristics, biomechanical properties, fabric structure, and suitability are directly related to exercise time and athlete's wearing comfort. 18,19 The thermal and humid comfort of clothing depends on the number of layer properties and the air layer between the fabrics.…”
