Study on the Corrosion Resistance of Polymer-Modified Reactive Powder Concrete

Abstract: In ordinary processing condition, using small amount (2%) of polymer to modify reactive powder concrete (RPC), the performance of modified and unmodified RPC was studied for their corrosion resistance with water-dip-in, acid-dip-in and sulphate solution-dip-in tests and was verified by the strength loss rate. The results show that not only the corrosion resistance but also the strength, especially the flexural strength, has been improved obviously after the polymer modification. The mechanism has been studied … Show more

“…With the gradual maturity of polymer-modified concrete technology, various polymers are now added to meet industry-specific performance requirements. For instance, polymer-modified cement mortar is known for its good crack and acid–alkali corrosion resistance [ 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 ].…”

“…The influence of different curing methods [15] [16] and also the variation in temperature and pressure along with the duration of curing plays a major role in the strength of RPC [17] [18] . Durability of RPC due to high pressure curing is prone to shrinkage [19] [20] and studies have been carried out to measure other durability properties like corrosion ingress in RPC [21] and service life prediction [22]when used in structures the Apart from material properties the research on using RPC in structural members has been evaluated for static and dynamic loading conditions [23] [24]. Based on the intrinsic properties of all these parameters the focus of this paper is based on utilizing waste generated from automobile industry as a replacement for the quartz sand in producing RPC and studying the properties thereby.…”
