Study on the effect of icariin on the preservation of postharvest mango fruit

Abstract: The effect of exogenous icariin (0.005% and 0.01%) on mango cultivar ‘Zill’ fruit during 25°C storage was investigated in this study. The results showed 0.005% icariin treatment could delay the decline of fruit firmness and yellowing process of flesh tissues, inhibit the conversion of soluble sugar, synthesis of carotenoids and degradation of vitamin C, and reduce the disease spots, and to maintain the appearance and nutrient quality.
