Study on the Key Technology of CO2 Compression and Purification in Oxy-Fuel Combustion Coal-Fired Power Plant

Abstract: Oxy-fuel combustion is one of the most promising technologies for CO2 capture. It is of great practical significance to gain insights into the key technology of compression and purification. In this study, a 50 kg/h CO2 compression and purification test platform is constructed, which is used to develop the key technology and equipment suitable for the flue gas for CO2 compression and purification. Through this study, it is verified that this technology is feasible and high CO2 concentration is collected from f… Show more

“…Residence time is calculated according to the data from the literature in the test. The residence time of a different device was determined through calculation and analysis 44 based on the following parameters: tower height, cross-sectional area, and flue gas flow into the flue gas. The designed residence time of different towers of this platform is about twice of that in the literature.…”

“…A simulation model of two-stage compression was built based on the experimental results, and good agreement was achieved between experimental and simulated data. Wu et al 35 studied the compression of CO 2 in oxy-fuel combustion systems. The influence of CO 2 concentration, temperature, or pressure on the liquefaction ratio and energy consumption was also investigated.…”

“…Another emerging CO 2 capture technology is oxy-fuel combustion. An oxy-fuel combustion demonstration project has been established in Hubei Province, China, hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology . In the process, fuel is combusted in a mixture of CO 2 from recycled flue gas and O 2 produced by an air separation unit (ASU) with the generation of concentrated CO 2 ready for transport and storage .…”
