Study on the Properties of Roller Compacted Concrete in the Dam of Jinghong Hydropower Station

Abstract: For roller compacted concrete (RCC in abbreviation) with the admixtures of limestone powder and water quenched iron slag in dam of Jinghong hydropower station located at the downstream of Lancang River in Yunnan province, the raw materials and mix proportion of the RCC with limestone powder and water quenched iron slag admixtures were studied by materials testing and X-ray diffraction analysis method. Then the mechanical properties, thermal properties, deformation properties and the durability of this RCC were… Show more

“…The frost resistance grade of the internal concrete is F50~F100, which is similar to the project in central Tibet. The mix ratio of Gansu Longshou and Xinjiang Kalasuke RCC [8] are shown in Table 3. After analysis and comparison, the multi-year average temperature and extreme minimum temperature in central Tibet are higher than those of Longshou and Kalasuk, while the RCC dams of Gansu Longshou and Xinjiang Kalasuk have been in normal operation for many years, indicating that RCC dam construction technology is feasible in cold regions.…”

“…As an alternative to carrying out mechanical experiments on large specimens, the well-known wet-screening method is commonly employed in practice [8]. Following this method, experimental testing is performed on standard specimens, which are cast using the wet-screened concrete obtained by removing the coarse aggregates with the size larger than 40 mm from the original fully graded concrete through sieving, enabling the testing under usual laboratory conditions.…”
