Study on the Rollover Characteristic of In-Wheel-Motor-Driven Electric Vehicles Considering Road and Electromagnetic Excitation

Abstract: For in-wheel-motor-driven electric vehicles, the motor is installed in the wheel directly. Tyre runout and uneven load can cause magnet gap deformation in the motor, which will produce electromagnetic forces that further influence the vehicle rollover characteristics. To study the rollover characteristics, a verified 16-degree-of-freedom rollover dynamic model is introduced. Next, the vehicle rollover characteristics both with and without electromagnetic force are analyzed under conditions of the Fixed Timing … Show more

“…According to [13], these authors used a neural network to predict the rollover phenomenon through the Roll Index. Besides, the Roll Index is also used on a variety of vehicles, such as buses [14], electric vehicles [15], etc. The models used in these papers are similar.…”

“…In addition, a nonlinear eight-DOF model was put forward including longitudinal, lateral, yaw, roll, and four-wheel rotational motions [8,9]. In order to reflect the vehicle dynamic characteristics in different directions, a dynamic model with sixteen-DOF was presented, including longitudinal, lateral, yaw, vertical, pitch, roll motions of the vehicle body; the rotational motion of four wheels, and vertical motions of the unsprung masses [10]. Na et al proposed a new fournode membrane element model based on bending modification [11].…”

“…Zhang et al [ 30 ] proposed the inference that the unsprung mass plays a different role in the rollover motion between a flat road and an uneven road, and verified it with typical situations. Tan et al [ 31 ] investigated the negative effect of wheel motor vibration on vehicle anti-rollover performance. In addition, the tire contact stability has been given little attention in existing UCC designs.…”
