Study on the Sulfate Corrosion of Concrete under the Action of Loading

Abstract: In this paper, the sulfate resistance properties of concrete under loading action are studied. The concrete specimens with different water/cement ratio are prepared and correlative corrosive experiments are carried out under single damage factor (SDF) and multiple damage factors (MDF), which is relative with drying and wetting cycles. Dynamic elastic modulus is taken to characteristic the sulfate resistance properties of concrete under the action of loading, drying and wetting cycles and sulfate corrosion. Res… Show more

“…The first step is the 3D reconstruction of the image. After marking out the holes on each concrete slice through professional Avizo software processing, each slice can be combined and re-modeled so that a three-dimensional image consisting of hole connections can be seen and can be rotated arbitrarily to observe and analyze the development trend and damage of holes and cracks from different angles, and also the number of voids, porosity three-dimensional statistics and other data can be further modeled through threedimensional analysis [34]. Then, the cracks or pores were observed by analyzing the NS with different admixtures at different number of repetitions of DWC.…”

“…In recent years, concrete has gradually been utilized in environments with sulfate attack and high strain rates, and the research on the dynamic performance of concrete under sulfate attack has been highlighted (Feng et al, 2009;Xia et al, 2021;Yao et al, 2021;Bai et al, 2022;Guo et al, 2023;Wei et al, 2023). Li R. et al (LiHouHu and Zou, 2021) observed that the elevated sulfate concentrations lead to increased mechanical damage of concrete under varying high water pressures and sulfate attack.…”

“…Domestic and foreign scholars have done a lot of research on concrete sulfate corrosion [9][10][11][12], to which the corrosion mechanism and ways to improve concrete anti-sulfate corrosion ability are paid much attention in particular. On concrete itself, water-cement (w/c) ratio has a significant impact against sulfate corrosion.…”
