“…Sb=E double bond (Sb=S 485 cm -1 ; Sb=Se 333 cm -1 ), which were compared with experimental values as reported for Me 3 SbS (431 cm -1 , KBr pellet), [115] Et 3 SbS (439 cm -1 , CCl 4 solution), 422 cm -1 (KBr pellet) and Et 3 SbSe (272 cm -1 , KBr pellet), [108] respectively.…”

“…It has been found that the v E=X stretching frequencies in R3EX (R = alkyl; E = P, As or Sb; X = O, S or Se) varies with the total mass of the molecule and the masses and electronegativities of the respective atoms 212). The E-S bond in the drivatives R3ES shows some double bond character, which appears to be due to overlap of the field sulfur p orbitals with the empty d orbitals of the central atom E. The vibrational spectra of trialkylantimony sulfides, selinides and telhirinides have been reported133, 2o9, 212,213). The positions of the vE-X modes for the derivatives R3EX (X = Se or Te) have been interpreted in terms of some degree of multiple bonding between the two atoms 133'2°9 '212).…”

“…lated using Gordy's rules 10 and compared with the experimental values of Et 3 SbvS (439 cm −1 , CCl 4 solution; 422 cm −1 , KBr pellet) and Et 3 SbvSe (272 cm −1 , KBr pellet) 11 as well as Me 3 SbvS (431 cm −1 , KBr pellet), respectively. 12 However, since the experimental values fall in between the calculated values, a clear distinction between both bonding situations was not possible.…”
