Study The Effect of Antioxidants on The Traits of the Fruits of Two Cultivars of Jujube (Ziziphus mauritiana Lamk.) Al-Tufahi and Alarmouti Cultivars

Abstract: This study was conducted in one of the private orchards in Al-Haritha region, Northern Basra city to study the effect of spraying antioxidants with three concentrations of (0, 3 and 6) ml.L-1 on two cultivars of jujube trees, Alarmouti and Altfahic. The physical traits of the stages of fruit growth were studied, starting from 50 days after flowering to the final maturity 120 days after of flowering. The results of the study recorded It is too complicated. The progress of the growth and development fruits for a… Show more

“…The increase in total phenols by treatment with ascorbic acid and potassium is due to the critical role of this antioxidant in reducing respiration (Cosme et al, 2020). Increased phenols indicate plant adaptation to extreme environmental conditions by scavenging ROS (Ismael et al, 2022). Our findings agree with Abd El-Aziz et al ( 2009) in gladiolus plants.…”

“…In plants, amino acids play an important role as an osmotic regulator in the cytoplasm of cells, which leads to an increase in the formation of chlorophyll and, in turn, an increase in photosynthesis, which may explain why concentrations of amino fertilizer, especially concentration 4 ml.L -1 with all the studied characteristics, are significantly superior. Because an increase in chlorophyll and leafy area contributes to an increase in the production of basic components, such as monosaccharide's, which are included in the composition of carbohydrates, and their concentration in the leaves, the efficiency of photosynthesis has a positive effect on the carbohydrate content of the leaves [7]. The positive effects of amino acids on the studied vegetative growth characteristics can be explained by their role as a source of elements and the essential nitrogen property in building proteins and enzymes critical to physiological processes, such as cellular division and elongation [8].…”

“…Sidr trees are used as a source of animal fodder, and as ornamental trees in home gardens. All of these benefits and others have made it the focus of researchers' attention [2,3,4,5,6]. The fruit has excellent medicinal value; it helps with digestion and blood purification.…”
