Studying the Dynamic Characteristics to Lengthen the Operating Life for a Diesel Engine Using Frequency Response Function (Frf) Measurement

Abstract: This research was conducted on Diesel engine single cylinder which aims to study the dynamic characteristics of Diesel engine type HATZ 1D 80 made in Germany. The test was performed by measuring the Frequency Response Function (FRF). In this study, the vibration response was measured at three points: point A which was situated below the engine shaft and in line with the stinger. Point A indicated the FRF point. Point B was located in the valve train component, while point C was situated above the cap of the va… Show more

“…Through Fourier transforms, the data obtained from the measurement and transformation is in the frequency domain (Broch, 1984). Some studies testing FRF have been carried out by several researchers, including Subekti (2018). He examined the dynamic characteristics of cylindrical piston motors, where a global vibration mode frequency is obtained.…”

“…Various information such as amplitude, phase, power spectrum, Fast Fourier transform (FFT), active window, and filtering is obtained by analyzing this signal. In the author's previous studies, predictive maintenance methods have been tested to the dynamic characterization of single-cylinder diesel engines [1], characterize the symptoms of disc brake [2], [3], and predict bearing damage by the excitation force that comes from the signal cell phone [4].…”

“…Through Fourier transforms, the data obtained from the measurement and transformation is in the frequency domain (Broch, 1984). Subekti (2018) tested the dynamic characteristics of a cylindrical piston motor, and they resulted in data about global vibration mode frequency. Chen et al (2017) studied the effects of a friction coefficient resulted from tires and road to the steering system with the FRF method, which was then validated between the experiment and simulation.…”
