SU‐FF‐T‐267: Implementation of ATC Method 1 for Clinical Trials Data Review at the Quality Assurance Review Center

Abstract: Purpose: To develop the capability at the Quality Assurance Review Center (QARC) to receive and review digital radiation therapy treatment planning data (TPD) for clinical trial case review. Method and Materials: A system of software (“ATC Method 1”) developed at the Image‐guided Therapy QA Center (ITC) as part of the Advanced Technology QA Consortium (ATC) to receive, process, and review volumetric TPD for clinical trials was ported to a Linux workstation at QARC. The system includes an FTP server for receivi… Show more

“…Electronic data submissions are sorted into two categories: (1) Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) imaging which refers to all diagnostic digital imaging that conforms to the DICOM standard 1 and (2) eMaterials, which encompasses all other types of electronic imaging including pictures, documents, slide show presentations, spreadsheets, movies, and Adobe PDF files. QARC also accepts DICOMRT and RTOG data exchange files 2 and stores them under eMaterials in the patient database. This paper, however, specifically focuses on the management of digital diagnostic DICOM imaging.…”

“…It will be important for images and RT objects to be easily accessible for review using either in house or web based tools. As institutions mature in their informatics capabilities, they can be expected to submit data in a uniform format following the very successful strategy developed by the ATC for the RTOG (12). In turn, the quality assurance centers will need to place considerable emphasis on developing strategies for caBIG compliance and uploading objects to the national archive for research initiatives.…”
