Sự Tham Gia Của Cộng Đồng Địa Phương Trong Phát Triển Du Lịch Tại Làng Thanh Thủy Chánh, Huế

Abstract

The local community participation in decision-making, operating, and benefit-sharing from tourism is considered as a key element for sustainable tourism development in that locality. The survey data with 133 local people and in-depth interview data with 25 respondents representing different stakeholders show that the majority of people at Thanh Thuy Chanh village are currently engaged in tourism at the level of "induced participation" according to Tosun's (2006) typology of community participation. Besides socio-demographic characteristics, the decision of local people to continue working in tourism is influenced by 6 factors with descending importance as follows: understanding of local tourism, attitude towards tourism development, service capability, decision-making ability, trust with stakeholders, and tourist access capacity. This result shows that the participation of the local community at Thanh Thuy Chanh village is promising if appropriate solutions and policies are implemented to raise awareness, capacity, and role of community participation and to enhance cooperation among stakeholders.
