Subchronic toxicity of oral deltamethrin in laying chickens

Abstract: Pyrethroid pesticides, with low toxicity to birds and mammals and short persistence in the environment, are widely used now. With the development of intensive poultry farming, pesticide application leads to residues in poultry products and pollution in ecological environment. The aim of the present study was to examine deltamethrin subchronic toxicity in laying chickens. One hundred and twelve laying chickens were randomly assigned to 14 groups including 13 groups medicated with deltamethrin (n = 8) and one un… Show more

“…Therefore, gas chromatography (GC) [9,10] is frequently employed in conjunction with an electron capture detector, single-quadrupole mass analyzer (MS) [11], or triple-quadrupole mass analyzer in tandem MS/MS [12,13] to detect pyrethroid pesticides in animal-derived food products. On the basis of previous studies on the toxicology of deltamethrin in laying hens [14], we further studied the enrichment and elimination of the poison deltamethrin in the body of laying hens using gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry. The existing research on the toxicity and residue of deltamethrin in laying hens is currently limited.…”
