The study of the material composition of gold-bearing ores includes the determination of quantitative chemical and mineral composition, forms of noble metals, granulometric composition, and physical and mechanical properties to choose the direction for the development of an effective technology of their complex enrichment. This work is devoted to the study of the material composition of refractory gold-bearing ore of Aktobe deposit. It was determined that the content of gold is 1.55-1.6 g/t, the mass fraction of silver is 42-43 g/t, and the content of sulphur is low and is 1-1.1% respectively. Of non-ferrous metals, zinc 0.17%, and lead 0.15% are present in insignificant amounts, and the content of harmful impurities antimony and arsenic are insignificant and amounted to 0.01 and 0.05%. The ore sample has a relatively uncomplicated mineral composition: rock-forming minerals represented by quartz, potassium feldspar, calcite, and mica predominate significantly. Ore minerals are represented by pyrite up to 10 %, limonite up to 0.5 %, galena 0.15-0.2 %, sphalerite 0.17-0.2 % and gold. Physical and mechanical properties of the ore were determined. According to the category of crushability, the ore belongs to the category of medium hardness. According to Bond's method, the "index of network Wi" of ball milling was determined for the initial ore, which was 19.3 kW∙h/t∙μm0.5. Based on the obtained data on the study of material composition, further research will be directed to the study of gravity and flotation enrichment.

The article presents the results of thermodynamic and experimental research on the processing of cinders from the firing of Shalkiya deposit lead-zinc ore tailings with the production of siliceous ferroalloys. Thermodynamic modeling carried out using the HSC-6.0 complex based on the Gibbs energy minimization principle showed that the interaction occur with the formation of CaSiO3, FeSiO3, MgSiO3, K2OˑSiO2, FeSi, Fe5Si3, SiC, Fe3Si, Si, SiOg, FeSi2.33, FeSi2, CaSi, Zn, Zng, Pb, Pbg; an increase in the iron amount in the system allows increasing the silicon extraction degree into the alloy at 1800°C to 76%, to reduce the silicon concentration in the alloy from 41 to 24%; FS25 grade ferrosilicon formed at 1752-1867°C in the presence of 88-100% iron, and FS45 grade ferrosilicon – at 1863-1900°C and 20-22.4% iron. Electric melting of a charge containing 63.83% calcined cinder of tailings, 19.15% coke, and 17.02% steel chips allows to obtain FS45 grade ferrosilicon (44.1-43.9% Si) with the extraction of 69.7% silicon and sublimates with the content of 32-38% zinc and lead. The results obtained allow complex processing of lead-zinc sulfide ore tailings with the extraction of not only non-ferrous metals, but also silicon in the ferroalloy.

Purpose is substantiating ways to enhance durability and bearing capacity of open gears of ore-pulverizing drum mills as well as efficiency of engineering solutions concerning the increase in their unit power at the expense of drive improvement. Methods. Results of continual experiments and theoretical studies have been generalized as for the abrasion of working surfaces of open gear teeth of drum mills and factors influencing load distribution in terms of a tooth rim width. Findings. Comparative analysis between domestic mills and the best world-class products has been carried out. Ways of solving problems to design large-capacity mills with a gearbox drive have been demonstrated. Influence of hardness of working teeth surfaces on their durability has been evaluated quantitatively. The factors, governing load distribution in terms of tooth rim width, have been analyzed. Use of self-adjusting gear drives for open gears has been evaluated. Originality. Functional relation between stress-strain properties of working surface of teeth; the number of running-in modes, determined by operational conditions; and durability of open gear has been identified. The factors, influencing load distribution in terms of tooth rim width, have been considered. Practical implications. It has been shown that use of such open gears, where hardness of working surface of gear teeth is (500-600) H1B1 and that of a tooth rim one is (260-300) H2B2, makes it possible to provide almost wear-free operation. Moreover, it is the required condition for the performance of a tooth rim with two drive gears.
