A noticeable characteristic of the field of geophysical exploration of the earth through electromagnetic methods is the substantial degree of active and effective interaction presently achieved within the international community of its representative researchers, a growing group numbering two to three hundred. The “Workshop on Electromagnetic Induction in the Earth and Moon”, a program initiated by Working Group III of IAGA, constitutes the principal and indeed a powerful forum for this highly diversified scientific association. The latter, although largely elective in its constitution, is nevertheless tightly organized and meets regularly for weekly periods at the relatively frequent rate of once every two years. The program includes comprehensive and informative review papers on each one of a dozen of distinct and fundamental aspects of the main subject as well as numerous contributed papers.
